Many of the memories taken home by students are of the fun they had at the various apres-ski activities that happened during their week away. These activities are clearly an important part of the week, and we take their organisation very seriously – although we do like to join in the fun as well !
Ice Cream Parlour. We visit a local ice cream parlour where students can choose from a variety of locally produced flavours and enjoy one of the many things that Italy is exceptionally well known for
The pizza night is always a hit. We use a typical Italian pizzeria where everybody gets to choose their own pizza - they sit with their friends, take photos and generally have a great time.
A visit to the swimming pool is now becoming unpopular (although it is still available) because of the number of extra forms to be filled in on the risk assessment. Hence the option of karaoke, which can replace the swimming activity. The evening often takes a while to warm up, but then it is often impossible to get people off the microphone at the end of it ! But it is usually good fun, and provides an opportunity for the extroverts in the group to shine. We have recently also been organising activities in the (Bardonecchia) town multi-sports hall, and this has proved very successful and popular with the students and teachers alike, and this is another option which can replace the swimming pool visit.
The final evening is the night when everybody gets their instruction certificate. The instructors come to the hotel, they chat to their group, give the certificates, a lot of kissing on both cheeks and hand shaking is done, and many photos taken.
After this, the last night disco is also popular. It’s time to dress up, put the make-up on, and let the hair down. Many groups use it as a fancy dress night as well. The venue is again closed door, the bar is under strict instructions not to serve alcohol to students, and a great night is had by all.
We organise events on four evenings out of the six you are in resort. Of the two free evenings, one is the arrival day when everybody is tired. Another is left free for people to do as they wish, but we can fill this with a quiz (although we recognise that this is only really suitable for younger students), a video or DVD night, or another activity if required. The organised events are inclusive in the price of the holiday, and any extra events would be charged at cost price only.
