Train travel has come of age, and we are happy to be in the vanguard of offering the option of travelling out to resort by a combination of Eurostar and the French T.G.V. Starting at London (St Pancras), changing platforms at Lille, and finishing at any of a selection of T.G.V. stations close to the French Alps (Grenoble, Lyon, Chambery, Briancon, and Modane are all possibilities). Travelling across France at up to 300 k.p.h is a memorable experience, and trains offer the benefits of being faster than coaches, more comfortable than planes – and often just as quick ! They are also less susceptible to striking dockers at Calais, fog bound airports, air traffic control disputes – and they are, of course, a very environmentally friendly way to travel.
In general, leaving St Pancras at 08.30 in the morning means that you should be checking in to your hotel by around 18.00 in the evening.
The last leg of the journey is effected by coach transfer. Our resorts in Italy are very suitable for train travel, and it is in fact possible to travel directly to Italy by train from Paris.
